The Florida Orchestra is proud to announce Geff Strik as their new Visual Artist - In - Residence. Adding Geff to the team aligns with The Florida Orchestra's goal in producing innovative ideas and work for its audiences across the area. Geff will work alongside the team at The Florida Orchestra to bring forth the second short film that will play alongside the live orchestra coming this October. Geff's new artwork escalates his work to a level that is more than what he has done before.

Geff sat down with St. Pete Life Magazine to discuss his newfound role as the Visual Artist in Residence with The Florida Orchestra. In this new 2019 - 2020 season, the orchestra pushes the boundaries of its work bringing back Geff to produce yet another film. This time its to accompany Strauss' Don Quixote with Michael Francis conducting and goes musician, Maximilian Hornung.
Black Tea Music to Represent Geff Strik Short Film
Black Tea Music is a boutique music promotion, publishing, and management representative for composers and new music-inclined artists. Geff Strik is proudly now represented by Black Tea Music for the multi media performance / short film "Verklärte Nacht" and future multimedia projects. The film is available for screening to orchestras worldwide and Geff is available for commissions and interested in creating a truly unique experience for musical audiences.
Geff was first featured in the French magazine, Le Courrier de Floride 5 years ago. In the May 2019 issue, Geff discusses the special commission with The Florida Orchestra where 18 scenes are layered onto a large canvas visualizing the poem, "Transfigured Night". Over 6,000 people were able to enjoy his original artwork in the form of a short film played alongside a live orchestra. Future audiences will be able to enjoy more of Geff's work as he will be interpreting Don Quixote his own way this upcoming Fall.
The Florida Orchestra collaboration and commission consists of a live musical performance accompanied by a 28 minute dramatic short film as the backdrop. Geff collaborated alongside Ella Fredrickson, principal librarian and Michael Francis, conductor to execute the concept using his artwork to interpret the Schoenberg's musical piece, "Verklärte Nacht", which was inspired by Richard Dehmel's poem of the same name. This multimedia performance is the first of its kind and in its world premiere in 2018, audiences were stunned with rich imagery and a memorable experience involving simply canvas and music. The production was made possible by project sponsor Phil Yost, Compass Land and Title.
The Tampa Bay Times Features Geff Strik & The Florida Orchestra
The Tampa Bay Times visited the Strik studio for coverage of the upcoming show featuring the special collaboration between the artist the The Florida Orchestra, where he will be providing the visuals to a performance of Verklarte Nacht, an 1899 string piece by the Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg.
The Saint Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts unveiled a series of paintings, sculptures, and photography. This is in part of the Exquisite Corpse game where 3 artists create a piece, only to be revealed and pieced together at the official unveiling.
Mayor Rick Kriseman Unveils Southeastern Guide Dogs Sculpture
St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman reveals the first dog sculpture, "Saint Pete," sponsored by the city of St. Petersburg and painted by Geff Strik. Kriseman's family has helped raise puppies for Southeastern Guide Dogs. The "Saint Pete" sculpture was painted by Strik with inspiration from city's Russian roots (the city was founded by Russian immigrant Peter Demens, who named the city after his birthplace, St. Petersburg, Russia). Strik carried over elements from Fabergé eggs, which were first created in Russia.
Local artisans were invited to the Dali Museum in Saint Petersburg where the work of 12 artisans from the area were displayed, featuring sculptures, photography, to paintings, including Geff's pieces inspired by French History. The 12 artists were elected by the Dali Zodiac Committee members in part of the exclusive event to celebrate the growing Tampa Bay arts scene.
